Eiki LC-X999, Just Simply A Sick Lamp!
It was the year 2001, clearly there were not any space odysseys underway, and Eiki was looking to add a projector of considerable depth. At the time, Eiki was not manufacturing in mass quantities and looked to source a projector from rival Sanyo. The same projector as the Sanyo PLC-XP21N, Eiki simply tore off the Sanyo label and put on their own. The Eiki LC-X999 was manufactured to hit the high lumens market and was priced quite high as well just like its counterpart.
Starting at $11,000 US, the main attraction here was the 2500 ANSI lumens, but not too over shadowed is its 700:1 contrast ratio. Giving the strength to power its 2500 lumens is a 200W projector lamp. Unfortunately, like most high lumens output projectors, the projector lamp for the LC-X999 lasts only about 1000 hours.

Since it offered such a high output of brightness, the LC-X999 was able to go where most projector could not, the world beyond 21 feet. Yes, it could deliver a picture that maxed out at just over 28 feet across.
The very large picture was also couple with a great contrast ratio of 700:1. This offered blacks that actually looked black, and nicely saturated colors without obvious bleeding.
The LC-X999 has decent resolution of XGA quality giving 1024x768p with the ability to compress up to 1280x720p. This being said, it also coupled the resolution with HDTV inputs that could handle 720p, 1080i, and even 1035i.
That wasn’t all as far as inputs were concerned though. The LC-X999 also gave you the option of component video, EDTV, SDTV, but unfortunately not Digital DVI.
A somewhat cumbersome projector with a weight of 7 kilograms, it is also lofty in size with a width of 9 inches yet a depth of 14 inches! The LC-X999 is somewhat loud at 39db, but it was made for home theatre, so they were probably assuming that you would section it off and turn the volume up.
Eiki did a good job of making sure its customers were happy by adding a 3 year warranty on the projector, it is really too bad they didn’t include that warranty on the projector lamp. Well, that is it for this model, keep your antennae pointed in this direction for more exciting specs!
