Philips is a manufacturing leader in the projector world. They consistently have the best, most innovative products on the market. But they also have a confusing system for naming some of their products. They do not market their projectors using a numbering system but rather give them names like BSURE, CBRIGHT, HOPPER and GARBO. To add to the complexity and ambiguity they then seem to have a completely parallel and unofficial system of naming the projector by number. One of Philips’ projectors is the LC4441. The LC4441 actually is the CBright XG2, which is an extremely popular model from Philips. Let’s run down some of the specifications on the Philips LC4441. The projector uses Philips’ advanced UHP projector lamp technology. The lamp inside the LC4441 is a 200W projector lamp which allows the projector to produce 1200 ANSI lumens. The projector lamp itself will last for 2000 hours and Philips is constantly trying to develop a product that will last longer

The contrast ratio at 300:1 is a little lower than its cousin the SV2, but a contrast ratio like this still does wonders for movies that are a little dark or for situations where you can’t totally control the amount of light coming in the room.

Some other features that the CBright XG2 includes are HDTV compatibility that is 1080i and 720p. The projector’s maximum resolution is 1280x1024 and the unit has a native resolution of 1024x768. The CBright XG2 comes with a standard aspect ratio of 4:3 in XGA mode.

We tested the XG2, hooking it up to a laptop for some multimedia presentations that include some pretty advanced flash animations, which themselves included a lot of high resolution photos. The thing that impressed us about the XG2 was the brightness of the color on the screen. The colors popped with a brilliance suitable and befitting a 200W projector lamp.
