Mitsubishi LVP-EX53U Projector; VLT-XD520LP Projector Lamp
Many projector companies are producing new projector models every year, however there is not much differentiating them from their predecessors. The Mitsubishi LVP-EX53U is a newer projector produced within the last 2 years that falls under this category of projectors that appear to be the same as the previous years model. However if you look a little deeper you will find an array of features that are extremely functional and were overlooked in previous designs. There is nothing special about the image quality on the EX53U, as the contrast is pretty standard at 2000:1 and the resolution does not accommodate HD at 1024x768p. It does allow for compression up to 1280x1024p, which may trick your eyes into believing it is HD, however its aspect ratio is only 4:3, therefore the screen size will not be wide enough to complete the HD image.
The projector is bright with 3000 ANSI lumens being pumped onto the screen, and this works well with the Blackboard mode option, which allows the user to display images onto a dark surface. The only users that will take advantage of this feature are teachers who literally have blackboards, or people who have not purchased white screens and use their living room wall as the display surface. The LVP-EX53U uses a 280W UHP projector lamp which is known as lamp identification number VLT-XD520LP which under optimal conditions should last approximately 2000 hours.
The best thing about this projector is that over the last two years the price slowly came down to just under $1000 and is now even more accessible to those purchasing with a budget. The worst thing about this projector is the audible noise levels which can get as loud as 39.0db. The wireless networking feature is absolutely fantastic and in this day and age I almost do not recommend a projector that does not have this available. It also has a closed captioning feature which is definitely loved in sports bars and gyms across the world since they usually have multiple screens and cannot have volume, otherwise the cacophony of sounds would be annoying.
It is small in size and weight and can still throw an image of 17 feet which make it yet another great model to choose from among the Mitsubishi product line.
